WORKSHOP SERIES
KA INOA HAWAII
Hawaiian names were once revered as great gifts by Hawaiians with the power to affect the life of the person to whom the name was given.
Today we typically give Hawaiian names following a Western mindset which is problematic for a number of reasons.
Join me in this online workshop where I will outline 3 respectful ways to go about giving and even receiving Hawaiian names.
Inoa Hawaii
Aloha, I'm Malu.
A modern day Hawaiian. Part of a people who were deprived of their language and culture but I am not one to complain. I am about finding solutions.
Hawaiians have been attached to many stereotypes. Some of them may be true, but I pride myself on being different and innovative.
I teach Hawaiian to students younger than me (31) all the up to elders in their 70s. One of which told me this year, "I'm 75 years old. It's never too late."
